Pick 1: Old World Wine Pick

Ch. De Pez 2014

The ’14 vintage for Bordeaux was an incredible value driven year. Ch. De Pez is a perfect example of this, loaded with dark fruits and black cherries mixed in with gravely tannins and concentrated richness at a very approachable price point.

Ch De Pez was founded in the 1400’s by the same family that founded the legendary first growth Haut Brion.

– 92pts Robert Parker –

Pick 2: Crowd Pleasing Wines

Emblem Cabernet 2014

Big chewy Cabernet with layers of chocolate, black fruits, and tremendous richness. This is the quintessential Napa 2014 Cabernet and is blows away many of its peers 2 to 3 times its price.

The maker of this wine, Michael Mondavi, was the co-founder with his father of the Robert Mondavi winery.

– 91 pts Wilfred Wong –

Pick 3: The Great Ones

Araujo Altagracia Cabernet 2013

The Altagracia cabernet is one of the great second wines of Napa but is worthy enough to stand on its own. Altagracia cab is ultra-refined with a nose that is a perfume of minerality, purple flowers, roses, blackberries, and some mushroom.

The 2013 vintage was the first vintage produced by Francois Pinault who is the owner of the Bordeaux first growth Chateau Latour Pauillac.

– 95pts James Suckling –

Pick 4: Value Spot Light

Licorella Seleccion Vitis 60 Priorat 2013

A perfect winter red with explosive stewed fruits and savory notes with intense layers of red fruit, tomato, slate, and big almost sweet tannins.

Priorat was Spain’s second D.O.Ca. which are the regions of the greatest quality according to the Spanish regulatory board.
