Pick 1: Old World Wine Pick

Il Fauno di Arcanum 2014

A lucious super Tuscan with big black berries and black cherries on the palate surrounded by notes of herbs and baking spices. The smoothness of this blend is a rival even the best Napa blends

Arcanum means “The Secret” in Latin

– 94pts Robert Parker –

Pick 2: Crowd Pleasing Wines

Amizetta Cellars “Tradition” red 2015

Explosive notes of Raspberry and mocha on the nose. The palate follows through with added vanilla and red fruit layers with silky tannins. A great little “Prisoner Killer” blend.

Amizetta Cellars was founded in 1984 with some help from Justin Meyers, the founder of Silver Oak.

– 91 pts Cellar Tracker –

Pick 3: The Great Ones

Buglioni L’Amarone 2010

Benchmark Amarone. Incredibly rich with layers upon layers of raspberries, vanilla, tobacco, cocoa, orange peel, black cherries, cloves… truly incredible!

Amarones were discovered by mistake. They were making local sweet wines, Reciotto, but one barrel didn’t stop its fermentation creating the first Amarone.

– 95pts Falstaff –

Pick 4: Value Spot Light

Pommery Brut Royale NV

New Year’s may be over but with such a crisp, elegant, classic champagne with such value, there is always something to celebrate!

It was the birth of Mr. Pommery’s last child, Louise, that inspired him to leave the wool industry and start a Champagne house in 1856.

– 92pts James Goode –
