Pick 1: Old World Wine Pick

Nicolas Feuillate Brut Rosé NV

This mouthwatering rosé is very expressive of ripe raspberries and cherries with a touch of vanilla and lemon sitting on a fresh but easy drinking mouthfeel. A rosé that is more flavorful than the typical dainty style that prevails in Champagne.

Nicolas Feuillate is actually one of the newest major houses of Champagne having only started in 1976.

Pick 2: Crowd Pleasing Wines

Abadia Retuerta Seleccion Especial 2013

A rich and layered crowd pleaser that runs the gamut from blackberries to cherries and from dark chocolate to rose petals on the nose with loads of silky tannins that is perfect with a meal or just for sipping.

Abadia has over 50 different plots with a variety of soil types and elevations ranging from the river bank all the way over 2700 feet. This variety gives their winemaker a lot of different components to make their signature blends with.

Pick 3: The Great Ones

Pago de los Carraovejas 2015

The 2015 Carraovejas is neither a Crianza or a Reserva. It is the union of both and has all the dark black berry, black cherry and vanilla of a crianza with additional layers of tobacco, silky tannins, and baking spices of a reserva. This new style of Cuvee for Ribera is exciting as the wine is of tremendous quality like a reserva but as available as a crianza!

Carraovejas were the first in Ribera del Duero to use a large percentage of Cabernet in their blend, making their wines especially rich.

Pick 4: Value Spot Light

Napa Cellars Chardonnay 2015

Napa Cellars Chardonnay is the exact wine I want on a hot day. The palate has loads of pineapple, lemon, toffee, baked apples, and hints of honey with a rich yet refreshing mouthfeel. It’s hard to put your glass down when you sip on it!

Napa Valley may be famous for Cabernet Sauvignon, but they were first recognized for their Chardonnay in the ‘76 tasting of Paris, best known today through the movie “Bottleshock” starring Bill Pullman.
